In Spain, on March 13th, AFRA Feministas Radicales Andalucia, Forum de Politica Feminista, Associacion Feminista As Furias, Neskameak (aka Las Criadas) and ICASM are organising a webinar to dismantle the idyllic and propagandistic rhetoric of surrogacy. Very few policy makers support women. Whether out of indifference or lack of information about the realities of this globalised market, the majority of them fall into the trap of compassion for the buyers of children, while marginalising the women involved, those who become surrogate mothers at the risk of their lives and health. The idyllic narrative of the desire to have children is easier to accept than the reality of the exploitation of women, reduced to the status of producers of human beings on demand under the pretext of the right to have children.
